Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales she tells of her young heartbreak. Swift's passion for music was evident in the early years of her life. From musicals for kids to performing before thousands, Swift made rapid progress. The moment Swift performed The Star-Spangled Banner in front of an Philadelphia 76ers match when she was 11. She was already writing songs. In the following year, she started playing the guitar. Swift got inspiration from musicians who played country music, like Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks and, more recently, the Chicks in order to write original music that expressed the apathy she felt at 13 years old. Swift's parents moved her to Tennessee at the age of 13 after selling their Pennsylvania farm. This allowed Swift to devote more time courting labels for traditional music from Nashville.
